    Author Aileen Layon, one of three sisters who co-wrote the book “The Summer of Joanie and Bobo,” read the book to students at McCabe Elementary School in El Centro on Thursday. The book is about four sisters who begged their father to take care of a runt pig, with broken  hind legs, when they were growing up in North Dakota.     Most everyone with a high school diploma is familiar with the great Dickens novel, “A Tale of Two Cities.” This week I am writing a tale of two states. There will, of course, be a couple of differences between the two. One, I am sure mine will not go down as a literacy classic. Two, my tale will not be a great work of fiction but an all too sad reality story. I cannot promise to give you a classic of American literature, but it will hopefully be one the people of this once great state of California will want to study.
