    During Mama’s era, the early 1900s, every woman knew how to sew. Dime stores, and department stores, all sold fabric. Until a few years ago our county still had many places selling fabric. Now there are only a few. Part of the reason for this is that some stores sell dresses that cost less than the price of today’s dress patterns. Thankfully Wall-Mart stores in Calexico and El Centro have expanded their fabric selections.
