The Imperial Valley Symphony opens its 46th Season with the Fall Concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, November 2, 2019, on stage in the Jimmie Cannon Performing Arts Theatre, 2001 Ocotillo Dr., El Centro.  Imperial resident Astrid Ruelas will open the program as featured soloist in Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor.  The second half of the concert will be a "cowboy" tribute in anticipation of the following week's Brawley Cattle Call Rodeo.  "Go West!," features the themes from "The Magnificent Seven;" "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly;" and "Hang 'Em High."  The orchestra will present Aaron Copland's Four Dance Episodes from "Rodeo"  written in 1942 for choreographer Agnes de Mille and the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo for the ballet of the same name: "Buckaroo Holiday," "Corral Nocturne," "Saturday Night Waltz," and "Hoe-down." The concert will end with the finale of Rossini's Overture to "William Tell," better known to audiences as the theme from "The Lone Ranger."  The concert is present free of charge, and children are welcome when accompanied and supervised by an adult.
