Why is the Imperial Valley Press requiring a digital access subscription?

What is a digital access subscription?
A digital access subscription allows ivpressonline.com users to read full stories and view exclusive local content under premium sections including our E-Edition. It includes access to ivpressonline.com on all available platforms including desktop, laptop, mobile, tablet and others. It also allows users to participate on our online discussions by adding comments under stories.
Are there different digital access subscription levels?
Yes, there are two different levels: Premium and Premium Plus.
What does each digital access subscription level offer?
A Premium subscription provides access to exclusive local content including news, opinion, columns, sports, probe, photos, videos and more.
A Premium Plus subscription offers access to Premium content plus new featured sections including Family, Home and Garden, Teen, Farm, Business, updated databases and more. Premium Plus also includes our E-Edition, the daily digital replica of the Imperial Valley Press newspaper.

Can I access Premium Plus content with a Premium subscription?
No. A Premium Plus digital access subscription is required to view Premium Plus content including our daily E-Edition. Premium Plus subscribers can access both Premium and Premium Plus content.
Do you have a digital access subscription without newspaper home delivery?
Yes. Even though home delivery service is included with digital access subscriptions at no additional cost, you have the option to not receive newspaper home delivery. Premium Plus subscriptions include daily newspaper home delivery. Premium subscriptions include delivery of our Sunday and Monday editions.
What are my options if I choose not to receive newspaper home delivery with my digital access subscription?
If you live out of the area or for any other reason you would prefer not to receive newspaper home delivery service, you can choose one of the following options:
1. Have it delivered to a friend or relative in the Imperial Valley. For this option, just specify the delivery address when subscribing.
2. Donate your home delivery service to a local charity or to our Newspapers in Education (NIE) program. For this option, please specify your request by providing notes when subscribing or call (760) 337-3456.
Home delivery is included with your digital access subscription as an added benefit at no additional cost. Gifting or donating your home delivery service does not have an effect on your subscription price.
How much does a digital access subscription cost?
A Premium Plus subscription is $13 per month under EZ-Pay. A Premium subscription is $9 per month under EZ-Pay. Premium Plus one-day passes are also available for $1.99.
How will my digital access subscriptions be billed?
All digital access subscriptions are under EZ-Pay and will renew automatically in advance of each billing cycle unless the subscription is cancelled. Renewals can be scheduled for the 10th or 25th of each month.
What is EZ-Pay?
EZ-Pay is the recurring automatic payment for your subscription billed directly to your credit card or debit card each month. No bills, no stamps, no hassles and no due dates to worry about.
Can I use my digital access subscription to access ivpressonline.com on my mobile phone or tablet?
Yes. All major devices and platforms are supported. In addition to desktop computers, mobile phones and tablets, readers can use their digital access subscription to read full stories or view full content on our mobile app (available at the Apple Store and Google Play).
Can I access ivpressonline.com content through Facebook, Twitter, search engines or other sites?
Yes. The site will be accessible through any external links or by using the address bar on your browser. However, once you reach content under premium sections, a digital access subscription will be required to read full stories or view full content.
I receive ivpressonline.com email newsletters. Will email newsletters be affected by digital access subscriptions?
No. Email newsletters are free and available to any registered user. You do not need a digital access subscription to receive our email newsletters. However, if a link in the email newsletter directs you to content under premium sections, a digital access subscription will be required to view the full content.
Can I give someone a digital access subscription as a gift?
Yes. We offer gift subscriptions both for home delivery and digital access. In addition to this, remember that digital access subscriptions include home delivery service (daily home delivery under Premium Plus, Sunday and Monday editions under Premium). You have the option to obtain a digital access subscription and gift your included home delivery service.

I’m a current home delivery subscriber of the newspaper. Do I have to pay more for a digital access subscription?
No. Your subscription to the Imperial Valley Press newspaper includes a digital access subscription to ivpressonline.com at one of the two available levels at no additional cost.
A daily home delivery subscription includes a Premium Plus digital access subscription.
A weekend home delivery subscription, or any delivery service under 7 days, includes a Premium digital access subscription.
Yes. Registration is required to set up your access information including your email address and password. Once registered, follow the easy steps to verify your subscription and activate your digital access.
Can I still access and read ivpressonline.com if I do not subscribe?
Yes. Users without a subscription can still access different sections of our site. Content that will remain open includes breaking news, quicknews, last-minute emergencies, public safety alerts, or vital information of public concern. Classifieds, obituaries, weather, local references, directories and other resources will also remain open. Users can still browse our home page and section front pages. To access content under Premium or Premium Plus sections, a digital access subscription will be required.
I purchase individual copies of the Imperial Valley Press newspaper at newsstands. Do I have to subscribe for digital access?
Yes. A digital access subscription to one of the two available levels is required to read full stories and view full content under premium sections at ivpressonline.com.
Do I need to register to purchase a digital access subscription?
Can I add comments on stories if I’m not a subscriber?
No. Only subscribers will be able to add comments on stories.
USING YOUR DIGITAL ACCESS SUBSCRIPTION
Can I share my digital access subscription?
Yes. Each subscriber can have an additional linked account on his/her digital access subscription. This means a total of 2 registered users can access ivpressonline.com under one digital access subscription.
How do linked accounts work?
As a digital access subscriber, you can add one additional registered user to your subscription account. This will allow an additional user (friend, relative or other) to access ivpressonline.com on 2 devices (additional to the main subscriber’s 2 devices) and comment with his/her own account. As a subscriber, you can link an account on your ivpressonline.com account dashboard.
Can I share my digital access subscription login information?
Yes. However, it is not recommended. Each subscribed registered user is allowed to access ivpressonline.com on a maximum total of 2 devices at the same time. Sharing your login information will not only allow other users to access your registered account information, but may also prevent you from accessing premium content at a given time.
How does the limit of using 2 devices at the same time work?
Here’s an example: A digital access subscriber can log on to ivpressonline.com using a desktop computer. If it is then accessed with the same registered account using a mobile phone, the user will have reached the limit of 2 devices. If the same user accesses the site from a third device, the oldest device logged in will be logged out (in this example, the desktop computer). The system will continue logging out the oldest connection as new devices log on using the same login information.
Can I use my digital access subscription on more than one computer, mobile phone or tablet?
Yes. A total of 2 devices can be used at the same time by the same registered user. If a subscriber adds a linked account, that additional user can also access 2 devices. In other words, a digital access subscription allows a total of 4 devices to be used under one subscription; two devices per user. Once the maximum is reached, the device with the oldest connection will be logged out.
Do I have to log on every time I access ivpressonline.com as a digital access subscriber?
No. The site will remember your login information and allow you to access automatically without re-entering your login information unless any of the following cases applies:

Do you have a cancellation and refund policy?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time. Your account will stop being charged on the following billing cycle, ending on the 9th or 24th of the month depending on the cycle you selected during payment setup.
Can I change the email address associated with my digital subscription?
Yes. Using your account dashboard, access your account settings and select the contact information tab to submit updates.
Can I change or upgrade my current digital access subscription?

When I go on vacation, can I put my digital access subscription on hold?
No. At this time, digital access subscriptions cannot be put on hold for vacation. However, you can put the home delivery service associated with your digital access subscription on hold, but this will not extend your subscription period. To do so, please email email@example.com or call (760) 337-3456.
As a home delivery subscriber, can I put my digital access subscription on hold?
Yes. However, when your home delivery service is put on vacation hold, your digital access will be on hold as well. To do so, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (760) 337-3456.
Is there a way to put my home delivery on hold while still using my digital access subscription while on vacation?
Yes. To continue accessing ivpressonline.com during vacation without receiving home delivery, please request that your newspaper service is donated to Newspapers in Education (NIE) during that period.
Will my subscription period be extended when I put my subscription on hold?
Yes. When your home delivery subscription is put on hold without donating your service to NIE and your digital access subscription is on hold as well, your subscription period is extended. If you continue using your digital access subscription during your vacation donating your home delivery service to NIE, your subscription period will not be extended.
Can I send you my feedback on digital access subscriptions and other services?

Yes. As a home delivery subscriber, you can click on the “Home Delivery” link at the top right of ivpressonline.com and follow the easy steps to change your information including phone number, email address, mailing address, etc. Digital access subscribers can change their information under their dashboard at ivpressonline.com. Can I obtain my password if I forgot it?
