Thanksgiving is coming up and there are many things to be thankful for. Many people think of the things they don’t have rather than of the things they do have. Open your eyes! There are many things to be thankful for.

“I’m thankful for my family and friends I have and for having a home where I eat and sleep. I’m thankful for my high grades and that I’m still in high school. Most I’m very, very grateful for being alive and I’m able see another day,” said junior Santana Laines.

One of the top things that people are thankful for is having people around like family and friends who have helped them grow.

“I’m very thankful for my friends. Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without them. They brighten up my life and make everything better. All and all during this Thanksgiving, I’m thankful for the great company that I have been blessed with,” said freshmen Myrca Alvarado.

“I’m thankful for the life I live and for the friends and family I have,” says Julia Nuno.

Other people acknowledge a spiritual being that has intervened in their lives and are grateful for it.

“I am so thankful for God’s love for me despite my faults. I am grateful for my family and the wonderful friends we have. I am also blessed by having such a great job here at BUHS,” said graphic arts instructor Mr. Archer.

“I am thankful for everything God has given me, especially the life I live and everything around me,” said Martin Nolasco.

Some people may say that they are not grateful for anything, but sometimes when one loses a loved or loses something of value to them may make one realize how much they did appreciate having had that person or that thing.

“When I would sit down at the Thanksgiving table, my family would share what they were grateful for. I didn’t have much to say. Everyone would say the same things ‘family and friends’ so I said it as well until the family and friends around the table were getting smaller and smaller. Now that they are gone I should have been more grateful when they were here, smiling and laughing,” said Adrian Diaz.

Open your eyes and really see what you can be truly thankful for. Think about what’s most important: life, family, and friends.
