The near-century-old Imperial County Courthouse on Main Street in El Centro remains the location for most legal hearings and court administration pending completion of the long-delayed new courthouse on Wake Avenue.

EL CENTRO—The new county courthouse under construction on Wake Avenue here has a sleek modern appearance some may think befits its august stature. The state Judicial Council having it built apparently thinks it can look better still.

Last week, the San Francisco-based agency, which oversees superior courts in each of the state’s 58 counties, announced yet another months-long delay in completion of the project. Monday, it stated why.
