CALEXICO — Author David Ulin regards reading “an act contemplation” that, when practiced in a fast-moving world full of distractions, also becomes act of “resistance.”

Ulin, former book critic for the Los Angeles Times, visited San Diego State University-Imperial Valley students on March 13 to discuss the importance of reading and the process he went through while penning his book, “The Lost Art of Reading: Books and Resistance in a Troubled Time.”
