EL CENTRO — As the Roman Catholic Church continues to deal with the fallout from revelations of child sexual abuse scandals involving clergy members, the bishop of the San Diego Diocese was in town Wednesday to discuss new policies to combat and prevent abuse.

Bishop Robert W. McElroy addressed some 150 diocese employees based in the Imperial Valley at the St. Mary’s School gym. The meeting followed one the bishop held on Aug. 13 in San Diego, where he addressed around 2,500 diocesan employees who work in that area.
