CALEXICO — The Border Patrol El Centro Sector will retrofit a small number of its remaining “war wagons” — vehicles that are equipped with older-model metal cages that protect agents against thrown objects — at the urging of its agents’ local union.

The National Border Patrol Council Local 2554 recently took to social media to express concerns about the vehicles’ limited visibility, and was able to come to an agreement with the agency on Tuesday on the use of the anti-rock vehicles, as they are technically referred to.
