Church’s backpack giveaway includes cool summer fun

EL CENTRO — Another local organization stepped up to help kids in need get ready for school, as First Baptist Church of El Centro held a community event Saturday afternoon to give away backpacks while providing free food and summer recreation.

In addition to handing out some 60 backpacks filled with school supplies, First Baptist Church, located at Seventh and Orange, put up an inflatable water slide and served free hot dogs.
