EL CENTRO — Newly appointed county board Chairman Jesus Eduardo Escobar saw his first effort to get a measure passed from the position fall flat Tuesday as his proposal to declare a health misinformation a crisis failed to even get a second.

“I think it’s important on what we share with our community (on COVID-19), we set the precedent that what we support is proven,” Escobar, who was presiding over his second meeting after taking the gavel last week, explained as to why he sought to have the item placed on the agenda.
