SACRAMENTO — The California Environmental Protection Agency Monday rejected an appeal filed by the Imperial County Fire Department to become the county’s Certified Unified Program Agency.

This ruling came after close to 50 individuals spoke in an appeal hearing July 17 in favor of the ICFD becoming the CUPA to CalEPA, which had denied the fire department’s application in March.
