EL CENTRO — While the Imperial County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a five-year agreement with the Imperial Valley Rifle & Pistol Association to use its facility for rifle and pistol qualifications for law enforcement at $20,000 a year, they would prefer to have a more central location.

The firing range the Sheriff’s Office and other police agencies use is near the Centinela State Prison, 2500 W. Wheeler Road, which is 22 miles east of El Centro.
