Geyser proclaimed county emergency

NILAND — The Imperial County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday adopted and extended the proclamation of a local emergency in the county for an active and potentially damaging mud-pot geyser 5 miles northwest of Niland.

Caltrans Senior Transportation Engineer Shawn Rizzutto provided the board with information on the mud pot, which has moved closer to California Highway 111.
