EL CENTRO —- Sanitation is something most people take for granted when putting their garbage on the curb or in a dumpster, but eventually landfills reach capacity and have to be closed.

The Imperial County Public Works Department knows this issue too well. In April, it presented the Board of Supervisors with an operational and fiscal assessment of the county’s solid waste during a PowerPoint presentation.
