EL CENTRO – The daughter of an El Centro man who in December was fatally shot by El Centro police after he reportedly advanced on them while wielding a knife is alleging that various officials failed to take actions that could’ve helped prevent his death.

Atop the list of officials who Stacey Verdugo said she would like to be held accountable are the officers who, instead of relying on less-lethal measures, shot her father, Manuel Gonzales Verdugo, multiple times on Dec. 29 in the Rite Aid parking lot.
