A 23-year-old graduate of Brawley Union High School and Stanford University plans to challenge Imperial Irrigation District Director Bruce Kuhn for his seat in the March 3, 2020, primary election.

John Brooks Hamby is the first candidate to announce his candidacy for an IID board seat next year, though incumbent Division 2 Supervisor Kuhn also said he will be seeking a fifth term.
