EL CENTRO — After graduating from Imperial High School in 2012, Timothy Mendenhall knew he wanted to pursue a higher education, yet had no real exposure to or understanding of the options available to him.

Despite this, the former Tiger became the first member in his family to graduate college. He graduated with an associate’s degree from Imperial Valley College, and is now a few semesters away from earning an engineering degree from University of Arizona Yuma.
