IMPERIAL — The Imperial City Council on Monday agreed to direct city staff to assist the Chamber of Commerce with the chamber’s June 22 parade in honor of newly-crowned heavyweight boxing champion Andy Ruiz Jr.

The city’s decision came after about two hours of discussion between parties, which at times turned contentious over the chamber’s plans to charge the general public for the opportunity to hear Ruiz address the crowd.
