VENTURA — Thirty students in the Imperial County Office of Education’s Migrant Education Program were here May 3 through 5 to compete in the 2019 MEP Statewide Speech and Debate Tournament.

The students competed in their respective grade levels in eight different categories: English Prepared Speech, English Extemporaneous Speech, Spanish Prepared Speech, Spanish Extemporaneous Speech, English High School Debate, Spanish High School Debate, Middle School English Debate and Middle School Spanish Debate.
