Cetys private university on Wednesday launched a solar project that is considered the largest renewable energy project for a college in Latin America.

The $1.7 million, 1.92 megawatt Cetys Solar Power project consists of more than 3,000 solar panels that will power half of the Mexicali campus and will reduce carbon dioxide emissions in 1,397 metric tons.
