How do we determine who to donate to and who not? One couple has learned the hard way. A World War II Air Force veteran and his wife attended and supported the American Legion Friday night steak dinners on a weekly basis at the El Centro American Legion Post.

Approximately five years ago, the veteran and his wife donated $25,000 to the American Legion in El Centro, with the intent of supporting their kitchen remodel. Even though the veteran was blind, he looked forward to seeing the final project completed. Plans were quickly made to name the kitchen after the veteran because of his significant contribution.

Thanks to the person who wrote the letter to Probe concerning the American Legion kitchen in El Centro. I too, have been wondering when the kitchen would be remodeled. Kathleen Gramsgibbs
