I had thought that the 2.85 percent public benefit charge on our IID bill went toward such programs as energy assessments for homes or businesses. I saw recently that the IID is advertising FREE Energy ASSESSMENTS. This appears to be deceptive or misleading advertising at best. Also, I see on our bill that this charge is state-mandated. I understand this charge was state mandated years ago, but thought that it is no longer mandated, and if it is not, this may also be misleading.
