Dear Probe, having spent almost all my life in El Centro, naturally, I spent most of my childhood summers at The Plunge.  It was especially nice back in the days before we got central air conditioning in our house! It was a place to go with my friends and “be cool.” On days when we would walk to The Plunge, we would see which of us could walk the farthest on those burning sidewalks in our bare feet!

Those wet, cool summers began with Red Cross swimming lessons — from simply splashing around in the baby pool, all the way through life-saving lessons.
