A river bottom fire was reported Saturday night near Brawley, bringing out a couple fire departments in addition to the Brawley stations, according to reports from the scene and police scanner traffic.

The fire was initially reported about 10:45 p.m. west of town, said Brawley police Sgt. Perry Monita. The fire was in an area where transients have been living for awhile. There were no initial reports of injuries.
