BRAWLEY — Students at American Beauty Academy here were giving away free haircuts Saturday to boys and girls ages 5 to 17 for a fresh look going back to school.

Event coordinator Jaime Abarca said he’s witnessed and heard tell of bullying that kids from low-income homes can face because they can’t necessarily afford new clothes and regular haircuts.
