I am a Girl Scout. I am a lifetime member, second-time leader, service unit manager, Gold Award earner, former delegate and mother to a second-year Daisy. I am wife to a former Boy Scout, Cub Scout den leader, local cub master and Wood Badge recipient. I am mother to a first-year Webelos and a Boy Scout. When it comes to scouting, you could say we are all in.

We had heard the rumors of this recent announcement to include girls in the Cub Scouts, thereby paving the way for inclusion into the entire Boy Scout program. I had already learned, through our various participation in both local and San Diego regional events, girls at an older age are welcomed into some programs within Boy Scouts. We enjoyed their skits and song leading around the campfire at family camp. They look comfortable and well-adjusted. They are silly and confident, as any scout at that age should be.
