Our normally blue skies, albeit a bit cloudier thanks to a winter storm this past week, will be getting that much bluer starting Saturday with the arrival of the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration team.

The team, which debuted in June 1946 in Florida, is based in Pensacola, Fla., and has called Naval Air Facility El Centro near Seeley its winter home since 1967. It is comprised of members of both the Navy and the Marine Corps, with the stated purpose of showcasing “the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps by inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country through flight demonstrations and community outreach.”
