THE MEX FACTOR: A not-so-surprising disappointment

On Tuesday, the majority of the members of the Imperial County Board of Supervisors decided to turn their back on a proposal introduced by Chairman Jesús Eduardo Escobar intended to combat the disinformation that has been disseminated for several months within the community regarding COVID-19 and which reportedly has led to a substantial spike in coronavirus cases in the Imperial Valley.

Escobar, through interim County Executive Officer Ben Salorio, introduced a the proposed resolution, which is based on strategies presented by the U.S. Surgeon General to assign resources to identify disinformation and disseminate messages to counterattack it.
