Immigration is the purview of the federal government. Obviously it is to the states’ advantage to assist the feds in controlling illegal immigration because of the adverse effects on the local citizenry. Its effects are primarily felt by low-income workers; who must compete for unskilled labor.

Of great concern are health issues where immigrants are released into the general population without adequate health screenings. Added issues involve the stress on local school systems and public health entities.
