Carlos Zaragoza argues in his Oct. 2 opinion piece that the IID board has “eroded” the Imperial Valley’s historic water rights. One can only assume that he is referring to the recent appellate decision in the Mike Abatti litigation that found those water rights were not “a constitutionally protected water right.”

As the trial court ruled, these rights are owned by IID for the beneficial interest of all of its users.
