BRAWLEY — A 44-year-old Florence, Miss. man died after being involved in a single vehicle collision Monday afternoon on southbound State Route 78, just south of Hovely Road, California Highway Patrol and county coroner's office announced.

At approximately 1:21 p.m., Robert McKinley was driving a truck tractor with a box utility trailer on SR-78 when he suffered from a medical condition, which rendered him unconscious and unable to control the vehicle.

The vehicle drifted onto the west shoulder, continued down an embankment and came to rest on its wheels at the bottom of a large drainage field.

A local resident saw the incident and called 911 to report the incident.

EMS personnel arrived and declared the driver deceased on scene.

The incident remains under investigation, CHP Sgt. Daniel Alvarez said Tuesday.
