EL CENTRO — Two suspects were arrested and a loaded firearm was recovered during an officer-involved shooting Friday morning in El Centro, county Sheriff’s Office stated.

One of the suspects, an unidentified male, sustained a gunshot wound, authorities stated. No other injuries were reported.

At approximately 10:36 a.m. Friday, El Centro police officers received a report of a stolen vehicle.

ICSO investigators were made aware of the incident and attempted to assist with a traffic stop on the suspected stolen vehicle near Broadway and Seventh streets.

During the stop, the driver of the suspected stolen vehicle allegedly attempted to run over an ICSO investigator, Lt. Jimmy Duran said.

The investigator then fired two shots at the vehicle, which fled from the scene westbound on Broadway, Duran said.

A high-speed pursuit ensued and the vehicle eventually came to a stop at the Wheel Estates mobile home park, 1101 North Sixth Street.

At the scene, authorities recovered a loaded handgun and detained the injured suspect, who was transported by ambulance to a local hospital.

A second suspect was also taken into custody at the scene following a brief foot pursuit.
