BRAWLEY — Police announced that the 36-year-old Brawley man who was shot Thursday night in the area of 200 North Eastern Avenue is in stable condition and expected to survive.

While the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, Brawley Police Department Investigation Division is investigating the incident as an attempted murder.

The incident occurred at around 10:15 p.m. when Brawley police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the area of North Eastern.

Officers arrived in the area and located the male victim, who remains unidentified, with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Brawley Fire Department and AMR ambulance services arrived on scene and rendered emergency medical aid.

AMR transported the gunshot victim to the Brawley Airport, where Reach Air Medical Services transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center.

The possible suspect responsible for the shooting has only been described by police as a Hispanic male adult.
