BRAWLEY — The number of former Valley-dwellers playing professional sports is about to grow by two, with former Brawley Wildcats Tristen Carranza and Donavin Buck set to join the traveling circus that is minor league baseball.

Carranza and Buck were not among the 1,217 players to have their names called at the 55th Annual Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in Secaucus, N.J., last week, but getting drafted isn’t the only way to break into the pro ranks.
