 EL CENTRO — Imperial Valley athletics had a glow-up day on Wednesday, as some of the area’s best and brightest were honored at the 2019 Imperial Valley Press Athlete of the Week Awards Banquet at the Old Eucalyptus Schoolhouse.

The event, which is now in its seventh year, celebrated the collective achievements of 80-plus athletes profiled for their excellence over the course of the 2018-19 schoolyear and preceding summer. It also handed out awards for Athletes of the Year (male and female), Junior Athletes of the Year and Readers’ Choice Athletes of the Year.
