CALIPATRIA — A clutch pass from quarterback Kalin Sotelo to wide receiver Hugo Cervantes in final half minute of play got the Calipatria Hornets their first win of the season, 29-21, over Desert Christian Academy at Veterans Field.
CALEXICO — Calexico High School was down to its third-string quarterback, but that didn’t stop the Bulldogs for cruising to a 36-6 home win over Calipatria’s Hornets Friday night.
CALIPATRIA — Despite a new head coach and quarterback, the Calipatria High football team began its season on Friday the same way it ended its 2018 campaign — with a blowout loss.
HOLTVILLE — In 2017 the Holtville Vikings defeated the Calipatria Hornets in a tension-filled 27-20 bout to snatch back the coveted Axe after having fumbled it away the year prior.
Tonight’s local prep football schedule includes not only the Bell Game in Brawley but also the Axe Game in Holtville with both starting at 7 p.m.
CALIPATRIA — Homecoming night for the Calipatria High football team was spoiled as they suffered a tough loss against Mountain Empire High, 31-13, on Friday at Veterans’ Field.

SAN DIEGO — Saturday proved to be a real tonic for the Calipatria football team. Playing on the road, they trounced, nay eviscerated, the Falcons of O’Farrell Charter by a score of 57-0.
CALIPATRIA — Calexico High School’s football team turned to junior running back Christopher Gonzalez to carry the load against Calipatria, and he delivered with two first-quarter rushing touchdowns to spark the Bulldogs to a 30-8 victory at Veteran’s Field here on Friday.
