BRAWLEY — June 5 will be a momentous day for Brawley Union High School baseball coach Pedro Carranza. Not only will he be honored in a pregame ceremony at Petco Park as a San Diego Padres’ High School Coach of the Week, but post-game he will be a head coach in the CIF-San Diego Section All Star game.

For Carranza, this is yet another stepping stone in a baseball career that began in the El Centro Little League and includes appearing in a Southern Section CIF semifinal for the Central Union Spartans, starring at Imperial Valley College and Azusa-Pacific University, and playing minor league baseball.
