Brawley wrestler Savannah Gomez wins freestyle crown in Fargo

FARGO, N.D. — Competing at the 2021 U.S Marine Corps-USA Wrestling Junior and 16U Junior National Championships this month, Brawley Union High School wrestler Savannah Gomez was crowned champion of the 68-woman 138-pound freestyle bracket.

It was Gomez’s first time at the championships held at the FargoDome here. Although the competition was canceled last summer because of the pandemic, it annually features the nation’s best young wrestlers in the largest wrestling competition of its kind.
