KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Victory was in Fanny Mae Gutierrez’s grasp, but a late lapse cost her the top spot on the pedestal at the North American Grappling Association’s Orlando Grappling Championships on Aug. 8.

Gutierrez, who was competing the women’s welterweight division (170 pounds) was up 6-0 on her opponent, Alyssa Allbritten, in the finals when she “exposed too much of her neck” and wound up in a submission hold that cost her the match.
