IMPERIAL — The Imperial High and Holtville High football teams began a rivalry in 1940. Dubbed the Imperial Valley Classic, the rivalry was renewed after a 10-year hiatus on Friday with the Tigers cruising to a dominating, 46-0, victory.

The teams stopped playing after the 2008 season, when Imperial moved to the Imperial Valley League. Squaring off twice a year, Imperial won, 17-0 and 50-0, in that final season. Now, a decade later, it looks like little has changed as the Tigers controlled Friday’s game from the opening kickoff.
