Holtville cruises past Hornets in straight sets

HOLTVILLE — On Tuesday, the Holtville Vikings clashed with the Hornets of Calipatria High for the second time this high school volleyball season here at the John A. Kirchenbauer Athletic Complex.

As in the teams’ first meeting of the year, the Vikings emerged victorious, but win No. 2 came a bit easier than win No. 1 did, as Holtville was able to maintain its momentum after taking the opening set — rather than stumbling as they did in Calipatria — to close it out in three (25-19, 25-12, 25-8).
