IMPERIAL — What began as a simple effort from two local moms to have their kids in the autism spectrum experience what it’s like to play, and be accepted, on a soccer team has grown into something much greater.

Last year, Jackie Riddell, of Calipatria, and Paulette Ramirez, of Calexico, each started soccer teams within their cities for their own children, as well as any others with special needs.
