EL CENTRO — The Eagles landed again — for the 16th time in a row — beating the Central Union Spartans, 11-8, Tuesday night at Mickey Carter Field in a baseball game that pretty much had to be seen to be believed.

This game seemed to have everything, including high winds kicking up enough dust to make a casual observer wonder whether he’d been transported to, say, Tatooine. It had wild action on the base paths. It had umpiring controversy, high-stakes between rivals, a three-hour runtime and a walk-off dinger.
