COLUMBIA, Miss. — Friday night, while Imperial Valley football teams patiently hoped for the COVID-19 pandemic to ebb sufficiently to allow them to participate in a season projected start in January, Valley native Chip Bilderback was back on the field as a head coach.

Bilderback, who quarterbacked El Centro’s Southwest High School in their first three seasons (1995-97), was leading his Columbia (Mississippi) High School Wildcats to a 46-28 victory over Mendenhall High.
